Speak & Spell • Last activity 17/Nov

Our group is focused on genre fiction, with an emphasis on fantasy, soft sci-fi, speculative fiction, and romance with paranormal/fantasy and/or sci-fi elements. We are open to both adult and YA fiction. There's a lot of overlap among different genres, so even if you aren't sure your work fits neatly into one of these categories, give us a try, anyway.

Members of the group are working toward publication, either traditional or independently (aka, Amazon and the like).

Unlike most groups on this platform, Speak & Spell members commit to meeting via Zoom on the third Wednesday evening of each month (6-8pm) to give/receive feedback. Group members also have the option to post work and receive feedback in-between the monthly meetings. This hybrid structure provides a traditional writing workshop experience, while also offering the flexibility and convenience of asynchronous feedback, in-between meetings.

What we're looking for in members

We are seeking writers who are committed to actively participating, both in submitting their own work and in giving honest, kind feedback to others. The group is geared toward genre writers who are actively working toward publication and there is an expectation that all group members are willing to reading one another's writing with an open mind. Our goal is provide meaningful critique in a supportive environment.

Inactivity Policy
